Skinny Waist High-Fiber Breakfast Smoothie

I LOVE this new smoothie recipe.

Getting enough fiber is essential to maintaining good health and maintaining your ideal weight. But the reality is that most people don’t even come close to getting enough.

According to The Institute of Medicine, women need at least 25 grams of fiber each day, and men need at least 38 grams. These are the minimum recommendations…and in my research as a health coach, woman should aim for at least 40 grams (up to 60) and men at least 50 grams, especially if you are trying to lose weight.

Fiber and Disease – fiber reduces the risk of developing various conditions including heart disease, diabetes, diverticular disease, high cholesterol, constipation, leaky gut syndrome, and irritable bowel syndrome.

Also, if you are wanting to reduce your waistline, eat more FIBER.  The weight that you will lose from added fiber will come off your waistline first.  Honestly!  I love it when my pants fit  loose in the waist!

Here’s the bad news: most people get only 5-10 grams per day.

Here’s the good news: A psyllium husk fiber supplement is an easy and healthy way to up your fiber intake.

My Skinny Waist High-Fiber Smoothie contains 26 grams of fiber!

It’s also delicious to drink. I recommend drinking this for breakfast within an hour of rising to set you up perfectly for the day. I take my supplements with it (multivitamin, vitamin D,  omega-3 and probiotic) and am good to go until my mid-morning snack.

Along with the fiber, the combo of protein, omega-3 fats and healthy carbs will help stabilize your blood sugar and keep your belly feeling full and your mind full of energy.

  1. […] 1. Load up on fiber. Fiber comes in two kinds – soluble and insoluble. Soluble is the kind that soaks up all the toxins and insoluble is the part of a plant that you can’t digest that sweeps everything out.  It also helps you feel full longer. Aim for at least 25 grams per day.  If you are eating less than 25 grams of fiber, work up to that by increasing your fiber 5 grams every week. Increasing your water intake will help fiber do it’s magic. Increase your fiber easily with my Skinny Waist High Fiber Smoothie. […]
